[Well, Jake is currently on the road to ~~Viridian City~~ Violet City. He's currently resting somewhere off the road, and he looks a mite hassled.]

I've got two questions I'd like to pose at the moment. My first question is how do you feed a possessed candle when the Pokedex says that it feeds off of the life force of humans and Pokemon? Really, I'm all for survival and taking good care of your Pokemon and all that, but I'm not about to kill myself for it.

[That's about when he flails a little, sighs in exasperation, and holds up his hand. Dangling from it is a Totodile, who looks quite content to be chomping down on Jake's hand.]

How in frig's flipping sake do you get Totodiles to not bite you every time they leave the Pokeball?!

I'd rather I didn't have to resort to threats of abandonment, especially after Cheria went through all the trouble to send me the egg in the first place.

How big does it get? [He's almost afraid to know the answer....]

I don't know, its hide looks too tough for any tickling to take effect.

Perhaps you're right. It might be best if I let it fend for itself in regards to food, but I'd hate for it to get the wrong idea about my own Pokemon.

I think it might be the latter. According to the Pokedex, Totodiles just love to bite things for some reason, and apparently they're very playful.

Mine hasn't giwen me any trouble, it's actually one a' my fawourites actually seein' as it just does what I tell it to an' seems to enjoy fightin'.

Maybe you should just give the Totodile a reward every time it doesn't bite you. Or get it a chew toy...

Well he should eventually get to a point where you don't have to do anything to get him to stop. But something a simple as a tap and a clear command should be enough to get him to stop while you're still training him. You just have to be consistent and firm with him. It's like teaching a kid...at least I assume that's what it's like. But it sounds like you landed a reasonable one, so you should be fine.

[He's been a kid, but he's never actually raised one before so...]

Ahaaa...yeah. Is it a malicious bite though? Or just like...a playful nibble?

I might have been lucky in that regard. I'd hate to imagine what it'd be like if it hated my guts.

[He sighs and tickles the Totodile's belly. Apparently, she's ticklish, and lets go while making what might be giggling sounds.]

Playful. Sometimes she gets over enthusiastic about it.

I think her manners are broken personally.

Then I suppose I'll just tolerate the biting if she's too adamant about it. Besides that, she's been a good companion to have around.

A chew toy sounds sensible. Do you know where I could get one?

That's alright. If I can solve at least one of my problems, I'd be pretty happy!

Oh, I see, I thought you meant the Litwick problem. Still, I'm not sure how you'd go about training a Totodile to not bite, since that's all she seems to take particular pleasure in.

Probably at the PokéMart. They have one in all the cities, I think.

You got a Totodile too? I don't know how to help there. Mine likes to gnaw on everything, especially my pair of heels. He hasn't bit me yet but he takes part in mischievous pranks with Kizu, those brats.

I always thought if you knew how to train a dog to not bite you, it might be the same thing though.

Well, I suppose you can try politely requesting them to stop. If not, then I suppose a reduction of privileges until the message is fully received shall do the trick. As for the question about life force consumption.... [ dramatic pause. Her head points down. ] Death isn't quite possible here.
