[Sup, Johto! Jake looks extremely happy and pleased with himself. So does Stripes the Zebstrika, posing with his head held high.]

Well, I just got my first badge in Johto!

[Now he looks sheepish.]

Though, I don't think Gym Leader Falkner really appreciated how it all went. Eheh....

[Stripes snorts and looks like he could take on anybody. Someone got an ego boost after a successful gym battle.]

What's the second gym like, now that I'm thinking of it? I've only heard that the Goldenrod City gym has...some issues.

[PRIVATE TEXT TO DAVE STRIDER]

[Now, Jake's dumb, but he's not stupid. He thinks he can understand that after Bro left, Dave might be a wreck. He'd be the same way if Jade had left like that.]

Mr strider i have a query for you!
Are you up for a sparring match?
Im absolute shite with a sword or anything resembling a blade but im good at unarmed combat if thats anything!

Well theres a clearing just outside of violet city and i think its out where the road leads to the ruins of alph.

[And he is there whenever Jake gets there. The same flat expression as always, but with his ponyta shirt on and a black jacket over that.]

[Jake is patiently waiting for his friend.]

How good are you without a sword?

[He is genuinely curious and not meaning to be snotty or anything like that.]

[His eyebrow raises, and he shifts, putting himself into a middle guard stance. One arm blocking any possible attack to his side and the other out to defend or attack with.]

I wasn't just taught how to swing a sword. Blades are cool and all but you need power to wield it right. [Power, and speed.]

[He grins, simply keeping himself in a relaxed position. He's willing to wait for Dave to make the first move.]

Welladay! Then, show me what you've got, Strider!

[He's not as fast as he usually is, because pokeland nerfed his insane speed. But he's done enough runs in the dead of the night to know his top speed. He puts it to use, coming in from the left, but that's a feint. His fist comes from the right instead.]

[Probably a good thing for Jake. It makes things even for him! He somewhat expects the feint, in that he's able to roll with the actual punch. The kid quickly recovers, and immediately goes on the defensive. While Jake suspects that there are similarities between Dave and Dirk's styles, but unsure of the differences.]

[As Jake's recovering, Dave uses his remaining momentum to swing with his left. Whether the hit connects or not, he's immediately pulling back to put distance between them so he can circle his target. He's tested Jake's reaction time, down the fun really starts.]

[Jake doesn't strictly register it in his mind, but his body reflexively dodges it. He circles as well, blood pumping and excited. This is definitely the sparring match he's been hoping for, and been sadly denied with the ridiculous difficulty of going up against a robot at full Strider speed.

He waits, starting to get a feel for how this particular Strider moves.]

[Jake has good reaction time and Dave is aware this would not be a fair fight if he were at his best. He does something, that's probably unexpected. He spins around as he's circling and charges for Jake. It's a hard and fast with the sole idea in mind to grapple with his opponent.Probably dumb but, he's of no mind to lose or pay safety games.]

[Jake sees the charge and does the same. Grappling is basically his specialty. Normally, he'd go for the waist and attempt to pin him to the ground, but that's not his goal in this fight. At least, not yet it is. Jake simply wants Dave to let it out of his system, so he's prepared for a fairly long fight.]

[And that's exactly what Dave is doing. Getting it out of his system. He will grapple with Jake and try to push him back by sheer force. The fact the other boy is sturdier and more grounded doesn't matter. He is 5'10 and wanting to fight. That's all he knows.]

[Jake might have a minor advantage for being about six inches shorter, but not much.]

C'mon, Strider, is that all you've got?

[He doesn't answer with words. There's no need for it here. Dave pushes harder against Jake's hold, putting pure force and determination to use.]
