[Guess who has Pokemon-related questions. Go on, guess. Yes, it's Jake English.

He's accompanied by a Ralts and a Kirlia this time, though. He's had them for a little while, but the expression on his face is more thoughtful than...well, pained.]

To those chaps raising psychic-type Pokemon, I have a bit of a question for you. Is it possible to teach them how to play things like chess or cards?

Actually, you know what? Never mind the cards. I'd really not have to deal with them having a gambling addiction or accusing the other of cheating via telepathy or whatever.

I'm also curious to know something. What's the significance of being 16? I've heard that it's something of a special occasion by a friend, but I can't say I follow the reasoning behind a "sweet sixteen."

Turning sixteen is really just another milestone in your life. You are midway through your teens, and there are only four years left until you are expected to truly be an adult. Capable of standing on your own, so to speak. The "sweet sixteen" is about making the year the best one, because in the next two years, you are expected to start behaving more like an adult.

That makes more sense than what I've heard about it so far! Something about cars and drivers licenses.

I can't say I know what a car or a drivers license is, so it must be something only in your world. Mhm! It's typically a party friends throw for each other, since it's that sort of special. [~~EXCEPT ALL HER FRIENDS WERE GOOONE~~ She's helped throw her fair share for some of the younger kids still in Lhant.]

They're a machine that allows one to go from one place to another much faster than on foot or horseback. However, one needs a license in order to drive it. At least, that's what I've been told.

Hm.. It does sound like something very useful, at least. We usually take an escort through Turtlez Transport, which is.. well, basically riding a large turtle. They're rather fast, for being "turtles".

Great! I could use the help, really. All I know about Faulkner is that he uses bird Pokemon. I don't think he'll give Robin too much trouble, but you can't be too careful.

By the by, how are you two holding up on your end?

Let's see... birds don't do well against rock types, ice or electric, and are good against bugs and plant types. [Been studying her guide, yup yup!]

Well, we're doing pretty good I'd like to say! We went to the tournament and he made it to the second round before someone had the advantage. For now, we've just been walking back to Saffron City and taking our time to try and catch Pokemon as we find them.

Oh, I'm glad I didn't invest in a grass-type just yet, then. Perhaps I should focus on getting Robin stronger for this gym, then.

I've heard of the tournament being a thing that was going on! A shame I had to miss it. What's Saffron like?

It's probably the largest city I've seen in this entire region; even larger than Goldenrod was! I'm really wanting to check out Celadon city as well, which is only a few days travel to the east.. I hear it has an enormous department store!

[Oh, God, that only spells trouble for Jake in the future....]

Goldenrod is a big city, then? I'll be honest in saying that Cherrygrove has to be the first city I've ever been in my life.

It's the largest city in Johto, I believe. Is that so? Well, Violet is bigger than Cherrygrove, but Goldenrod is much bigger than that. It's not too hard to get lost in the larger city though, but the people there are friendly and everyone can give you directions!

There aren't any cities or towns on the island I grew up in, really. As you say, though, I shouldn't have much trouble if they don't mind giving directions.

Oh, right, I suppose there wouldn't be since you described those creatures before. There wouldn't be anything big in a place like that. But right! You shouldn't have much trouble at all.
