To those chaps raising psychic-type Pokemon, I have a bit of a question for you. Is it possible to teach them how to play things like chess or cards?

Actually, you know what? Never mind the cards. I'd really not have to deal with them having a gambling addiction or accusing the other of cheating via telepathy or whatever.

I'm also curious to know something. What's the significance of being 16? I've heard that it's something of a special occasion by a friend, but I can't say I follow the reasoning behind a "sweet sixteen."

It would certainly be a less effective tactic in that case, yes. Though I fail to see what could be gained by such a venture, unless you particularly enjoy watching others partake in such games.

It's more that I don't want them to get bored when we have some down time. So, I thought that they'd enjoy a game of wits as a break from training.

I suppose such engagements could serve to hone their skills, if nothing else. I have been told such games can be an effective form of training.

Do the psychic Pokebeasts' wits enhance their abilities to any extent you are aware of?

I think they enhance teamwork between the trainer and your Pokemon. Susan, my Kirlia, gives me feedback on how to better handle some situations. Though, she might just have more of a strategic mindset than I do.

I think it depends on the psychic type's personality, really.

I have attempted to encourage my own beasts to take initiative and employ tactics of their own in battle as well. ...Some seem to show more promise than others.

I do not believe their abilities directly correlate to their personalities, at least not that I have noted. Perhaps it is different for psychic-types.
