I think they're always excited to meet their new partner. It's the start of a journey for you both, after all. Usually they'll calm down after you start traveling and battling though.

Newly caught Pokémon are usually less excited. At least until they get used to being with you.

Also, this isn't any kind of a dream.

The little scoundrel still hasnt stopped using me as an impromptu jungle gym!
I guess it makes sense for the new ones.
I suspect itd be like getting a stray cat to trust you after you adopted it.

Yeah. It's good to remember the option though.

The next city is Cherrygrove. You go to Route 29 and follow it straight for three days or so. There should be a paper version of the map in you bag as well, though.
